The Cosmos Educational Learning Center (ELC) is a complete building renovation of a late 1950’s Elementary School. The project includes the renovation of classroom and learning spaces designed to meet the needs of special education students with severe disabilities with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and/or, students who are having behavior issues. The renovation also includes a Ready Clinic utilizing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder. In addition to administration areas, it provides indoor recreation, motor skills, and a multipurpose cafeteria/life skills teaching area. The renovation included rightsizing through the removal of 20,000 gsf of space, the creation of outside play areas, the replacement of portions of the exterior envelope, and new windows, doors, and a safe and secure entry.  The Cosmos ELC was renovated in partnership with the Atwater, Cosmos, Grove City Public Schools, and in part, funded with a Grant from the 2018 Minnesota Bonding Bill. The project includes 32,800 gsf of renovated spaces. It was substantially complete July 2020.
